Searce helps Quadrivia achieve 40% reduction in OpEx
About Quadrivia
Quadrivia is a health technology company based in London, UK, that is transforming healthcare delivery. Using its AI assistant, Qu, the company automates a wide range of administrative and clinical tasks, from appointment reminders to chronic disease management. This approach helps address the shortage of healthcare professionals by expanding their capacity and freeing them up to focus on complex patient needs. Through its B2B business model, Quadrivia helps healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies, and other partners improve efficiency and patient care.
The Challenge
Quadrivia's leadership faced increasing challenges as they tried to scale their flagship product, Qu. Onboarding new clients was taking far longer than expected, primarily due to fragmented infrastructure and the lack of consistent management practices. High latencies between services further slowed performance, threatening the seamless user experience that Qu promised its customers.
Compounding these business pressures were technical and operational hurdles: manual deployments with no version control or pipelines increased the risk of errors, slowed time-to-market, and made every release effort-intensive. Disconnected systems, reliance on ad-hoc scripts, and lack of standardization were causing instabilities and making the team's job harder.
- Inconsistent Deployments: A lack of a standardized deployment strategy led to frequent errors and a fragile system.
- Performance Bottlenecks: High inter-service latencies impacted application responsiveness and user experience.
- Manual & Brittle Automation: Over-reliance on complex shell scripts created bottlenecks and maintenance challenges.
- Operational Overhead: Managing external tools like Vault created unnecessary complexity and cost.
- Configuration Drift: The use of raw YAML files led to inconsistencies between environments.
The Solution
Our team of solvers worked hand-in-hand with Quadrivia team to understand their unique challenges and goals. Through intensive workshops and brainstorming sessions, we were able to precisely scope the work, ensuring every solution we developed was not only technically sound but also delivered real business outcomes that set them up for future growth. We designed, implemented and enabled a comprehensive cloud modernization strategy on Google Cloud, built on cloud-native principles and managed services to achieve greater scalability, efficiency, and security.
The original scope focused on migrating to GCP, but we saw that hesitation around adopting GitOps with ArgoCD could limit long-term impact. To secure lasting value, we built ArgoCD enablement into the delivery, even though it wasn't planned initially. By project close, Quadrivia not only achieved a seamless migration on time, but also gained full confidence in managing ArgoCD, ensuring their teams were future-ready. Seeing them unlock this capability was the most rewarding outcome.
- Foundational Automation: We established an Infrastructure as Code (IaC) pipeline with Terraform and integrated Open Policy Agent (OPA) to enforce security policies.
- Modernized CI/CD: We transitioned to a GitOps workflow with ArgoCD, which eliminated manual deployments, and migrated workloads to resilient Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) clusters.
- Enhanced Security: We bolstered security with Google Cloud Armor for DDoS and WAF protection, Security Command Center (SCC) for threat detection, and Google Secret Manager to replace third-party tools.
- Optimized Infrastructure & Data: We designed a highly available, multi-region infrastructure and migrated data services to fully managed solutions like Cloud SQL, Google Cloud Storage (GCS), and Google Memorystore, which reduced operational overhead.
The Impact
Quadrivia's migration to Google Cloud established a secure, highly available, and future-ready foundation that directly supports its mission to improve healthcare outcomes. Beyond the initial scope, the project introduced modern DevOps practices, stronger security frameworks, and a resilient architecture, enabling Quadrivia to operate with greater efficiency, scale, and confidence.
- 40% OpEx Reduction: By implementing a GitOps-based CI/CD pipeline with ArgoCD and Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Quadrivia eliminated manual workflows, reduced errors, and accelerated deployments.
- 100% Stronger Security Monitoring: Cloud Armor and Security Command Center improved real-time threat visibility, while Google Secret Manager and organizational policies secured sensitive data and eliminated misconfigurations.
- 99.99% Availability Achieved: A multi-region GKE architecture and managed data services (Cloud SQL, Memorystore) delivered high reliability with SLAs up to 99.99%, reducing operational burden and ensuring consistent uptime.
- Modernized DevOps Culture: Initially skeptical about ArgoCD, the Quadrivia team adopted it as their preferred deployment tool, embracing a fully GitOps-driven workflow that ensures consistency and scalability.
By modernizing Quadrivia's infrastructure and operations, the engagement not only reduced cost and effort but also empowered the team with the speed, reliability, and security needed to accelerate their mission of transforming global healthcare.
It was a pleasure to partner with the Searce team on Project Quadrivia for our GCP migration and CI/CD modernization. We were consistently impressed with their technical expertise and collaborative approach, which made a complex and aggressive timeline achievable. Their ability to navigate unpredictable challenges and course corrections while delivering a secure, highly available cloud infrastructure was remarkable.
The team's responsiveness and strong problem-solving mindset were instrumental in addressing our concerns and navigating technical challenges seamlessly. The collaboration felt like one unified organization, with the entire Searce team actively participating in every discussion and decision, often working well past their designated hours. We are delighted with the outcome - a robust, secure, and highly scalable cloud foundation for our future growth.
